The Stewart Inn is located in the historic downtown Wausau  River District. Nestled around the nearby town square are shops and restaurants, the Grand Theater, which hosts a variety of live performances, and the Center for the Visual Arts Gallery. The Inn is two blocks from an excellent YMCA and five blocks from the Wisconsin River walking path and Whitewater Kayak Course. Within a mile of the Inn, the Wisconsin Woodchucks play baseball in June, July, and August at historic Athletic Park.  Five miles from the Inn, sports enthusiasts will find Granite Peak Ski Area, Rib Mountain State Park and the Mountain Bay Bike Trail. Less than ten miles from the Inn, Nine Mile Forest attracts hikers, mountain bikers and cross county skiers.
